Is CBD oil for dogs the same product as CBD oil for humans? Generally speaking, yes. Both humans and animals can benefit from CBD because they have a similar endocannabinoid system. Composition-wise, CBD oil for dogs is the same as CBD oil for humans — with two exceptions like ALD-52 Blotters.
CBD pet products typically use lower potencies. Even large dogs are 2-3 times lighter than humans, so using your own CBD oil on your dog could be time-consuming and require insane precision to gauge the right dose.
Pets are also fussier than humans. Many dogs will turn their nose away when you even try to give them natural full-spectrum CBD. But have you ever seen a dog that disdains bacon?
Neither have we. That’s why all CBD Guru oils for dogs are infused with bacon flavor.
Potency Tailored to Your Dog’s Weight
Despite having a similar endocannabinoid system, dogs have different CBD needs than humans. For one, they don’t need as much CBD as humans due to a lower weight. The CBD Guru Paws CBD collection includes potencies like 125 mg, 250 mg, and 500 mg dogs of different sizes — from 25 lbs and less to over 50 lbs. This way, you can use normal measurements like ½ or 1 dropper instead of ⅛ th or ⅕ th in your dog’s routine.
Suspended in Organic Hemp Seed Oil
CBD is fat soluble, meaning your dog’s body can process it more efficiently in the presence of fats. At CBD Guru, we use organic hemp seed oil to maximize the benefits of CBD oil and support it with complementary nutrients such as essential fatty acids, vitamins, and trace minerals. Your dog receives the whole package of beneficial compounds from the hemp plant.
Infused with Full-spectrum CBD
Full-spectrum CBD means that the product was made using the entire hemp plant. This process captures more beneficial compounds, such as minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. These compounds can boost the effects of CBD on top of providing their own unique benefits. This synergy is known as “the entourage effect” or “ensemble effect” — the reason why full-spectrum CBD is considered superior to isolates.
Supercritical CO2 Extraction
The entire CBD Guru line is made with pressurized CO2 that captures the beneficial compounds from hemp without additional heat and solvents. CO2 extraction is by far the best method to produce top-shelf CBD extracts in a safe and sustainable way.
Third Party Lab Testing & Quality Assurance
All our oils are third-party tested in a certified laboratory to confirm that the amount of CBD listed on the bottle is accurate.
Tests confirming terpene profile, purity, contamination-free status, and maximum THC content are also available on request.
Guru Paws CBD Oil for Dogs: Choose the Right Potency
Dogs come in different sizes, so what works for a very small dog may not be enough to produce desired effects in a large dog. Choosing the right potency will help you adjust the dosage to your dog’s needs.
At CBD Guru, we offer three different strengths of CBD oil for dogs:
- 125 mg
- 250 mg
- 500 mg
Each bottle provides a 30-day supply.
Guru Paws CBD Oil 125 mg
This CBD oil is a good option for very small dogs — less than 25 lbs — or for pet owners who’d like to see how their four-legged friends respond to different doses of CBD. Each serving contains 4.16 mg of full-spectrum CBD. You can use this potency in your dog for daily supplementation or alleviate mild discomforts.
Guru Paws CBD Oil 250 mg
At 8.33 mg of CBD per serving, this potency has been formulated for larger dogs that weigh between 25–50 lbs. Our customers use the 250 mg oil to support their dogs’ mobility, healthy sleep cycles and ease separation anxiety.
Guru Paws CBD Oil 500 mg
The larger the dog, the more CBD they will need to achieve the desired effects. High-potency oils also contain more trace cannabinoids and terpenes than lower strengths, boosting the synergy between these compounds. Each full dropper contains 16.66 mg of CBD, which is a recommended daily serving of CBD oil for dogs over 50 lbs.
How to Use CBD Oil for Dogs
In a perfect world, your dog should hold the oil under its tongue for at least 30 seconds before swallowing. This is the most efficient form of administration for CBD oils because the CBD can pass into the bloodstream through sublingual membranes in the dog’s mouth. You can use the dropper attached to the oil to measure out the dose and administer it straight into your dog’s mouth.
If your dog refuses to take CBD oil this way, you can add it to its food. However, CBD administered this way needs to be processed in the digestive system, slowing its onset and lowering bioavailability.
Will CBD Oil Make My Dog High?
No, CBD is non-intoxicating; it doesn’t bind to any of the cannabinoid receptors in the brain, so it can’t get your dog high or “stoned.”
How Much CBD Oil Should I Give My Dog?
The amount of CBD oil for your dog will depend on its size, age, physical activity, and the product’s potency. We recommend that you start on the low end; most users start with 0.25 mg CBD for every pound of their dog’s weight. Read our guide on CBD dosage for dogs to get a bigger picture.
What Are the Side Effects of CBD Oil for Dogs?
CBD oil has only a few mild side effects, most of which are non-existent in regular doses.
That being said, possible adverse reactions include:
- Dry mouth
- Temporary drop in blood pressure
- Changes in appetite
Is CBD Oil for Dogs Legal?
Yes, all hemp-derived CBD products are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill, including pet products.
